For the Pasta:
- 8 oz fettuccine or linguine
- 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning adjust to taste
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- ½ cup chicken or seafood broth
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes optional, for extra spice
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
- Lemon wedges for serving
Step 1: Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
Drain and set aside, reserving ½ cup of pasta water for later.
Step 2: Season & Cook the Shrimp
In a bowl, toss shrimp with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes per side, until pink and opaque.
Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
Step 3: Make the Creamy Cajun Sauce
In the same skillet, add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine.
Bring to a gentle simmer, then add parmesan cheese and stir until melted.
Add red pepper flakes if you want extra spice.
Step 4: Combine Everything
Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the creamy sauce.
